GSAT-9 is succesfully launched by GSLV in to Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit(GTO). It was launched from second launch pad at satish dhawan space centre, sriharikota.

GSAT-9 is configured around the ISRO's standard 1-2k bus with a lift of mass off 22330kg. The main structure     of the sattelite is a cuboid in shape of built around a central cylinder. It carries communication transponders,       there are two solar arrays consists of triple junctions solar cells which generate 3,500 watts of electrical power.

Aocs(Attitude and orbit control system) of sattelite maintain its orientation with the help of magnetic torques       and thrustuers. The satellite’s propulsion system consists of a Liquid Apogee Motor (LAM) and chemical thrusters   using liquid propellants for initial orbit raising.

Purpose of GSAT-9 : The primary object of GSAT-9 is to provide various communication applications in             KU-band with a coverage over south asian countries.

GSLV : GSLV is abbreviated as GEO synchronous sattelite launch vechile. It is an expendible launch system         operated by Indian Space Research Orgonisation(ISRO).

KU-band : KU-band is a portion of electromagnetic spectrum in the microwave range of frequencies ranging       from 11.7 to 12.7 Ghz for downlink frequencies and 14 to 14.5 Ghz for uplink frequencies.

Applications :   DTH, e-governance, telemedicine, banking, VSAT and Other supporting applications                   include Disaster management support, meteorological data broadcasting
