Fulfilling one of the election promises made by the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao, two more districts have been formed in Telangana State. Gazette notification was issued on Monday making Narayanpet and Mulugu the new revenue districts for administrative convenience. The new districts will be functional from Sunday, taking the total number of districts in the State to 33.
The State government has appointed Collectors and Superintendents of Police besides other staff for the two districts, in the day. Carved from Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet district was formed with 11 revenue mandals, while Mulugu, sliced from Jayshankar Bhupalpalli, will have nine revenue mandals.
The Mahabubnagar Collector, Ronald Rose, and Superintendent of Police Rema Rajeshwari, have been given the additional charge of Narayanpet district. The Jayshankar Bhupalapally District Collector, Dr Vasam Venkateshwarlu, and Superintendent of Police R Bhaskaran were given additional charge of Mulugu district.
The revenue mandals of Narayanpet, Damaragidda, Dhanwada, Marikal, Kosgi, Maddur, Utkur, Narva, Makthal, Maganur and Krishna will be part of Narayanpet district.
The mandals of Mulugu, Venkatapuram, Govindaraopet, Tadvai, Eturunagaram, Kannaigudem, Mangapet, Wazeedu will be part of Mulugu district. Telangana was formed in 2014 with 10 districts. In 2016, the TRS government split it into 31 districts for the sake of facilitating better governance.
