Hyderabad: The four-day Sammakka-Saralamma mini jatara got underway amid devotional fervour at Medaram village on Wednesday. The devotees, who turned in large numbers from Mulugu and neighbouring districts, took a holy dip in the Jampanna vagu before they joined the serpentine queue for the darshan of the tribal deities – Sammakka and Saralamma.
Several devotees offered jaggery which the devotees call it as 'bangaram' to the deities. The in-charge Collector of Mulugu district Vasam Venkateshwarlu was present at the jatara overseeing the arrangements made for the comfort of devotees. According to priests, at least six to seven lakh devotees turn to tribal fiesta during the four-day jatara. Meanwhile, the TSRTC has made elaborate arrangements to run special buses from Hanamkonda, Mulugu and Bhupalpally to Medaram.
