Nalgonda: Suryapet district Collector Amoy Kumar has taken stern action against erring revenue officials over poor performance with regard to State government’s prestigious land records updation and purification project in the district. Even though the Collector has directed the officials concerned to address the land records issue of farmers in several review meetings, 19 Tahsildars in the district have failed to show progress. Vexed with the Tahsildars poor performance, the Collector directed the officials of the district and sub-treasury offices of Suryapet, Huzurnagar, Kodad and Tungaturthi to stop their salaries for February month.
The Collector also attached the copy of land records updation and purification project copy along with letter to Treasury officials. Tahsildars of Tungaturthi, Nutankal, Suryapet, Jajireddygudem, chivemla, Nagaram, Mothey, Penpahad, Maddirala, Atmakur (S), Tirumalagiri, Mattampally, Mellacheruvu, Chintalapalem, Nadigudem, Huzurnagar, Chilukur, Kodad and Munagala were in the list.
Meanwhile, the Collector’s decision has created ripples in the official circles of Suryapet district. However, victim farmers who have been making rounds to Tahsildars offices appreciated the Collector for the move and urged him to take similar action against irresponsible officials of other departments too.
However, in a report reaching last here, the Collector had revoked his orders after the members of District Revenue Officers Association met the Collector at his chamber and informed that revenue officials had never neglected the assigned duties and delay in works could be due to continuous elections, increased workload and insufficient staff.
