Hyderabad: Congress former MLA Brahmanapalli Balaiah died of heart attack late on Thursday in Hyderabad. Born in 1930 in Brahamapalli in Kamareddy, Balaiah had served as Municipal councillor and Municipal vice-chairman. Impressed by his dedication to the party, former prime minister Indira Gandhi offered him MLA ticket from Kamareddy. After being elected as MLA, Balaiah used to visit Hyderabad from Kamareddy in the bus. It is also said that he denied 600 square yards of land allotted him by the government at Jubilee Hills as he did not have Rs 20,000 to pay for the land.
He is survived by four sons and four daughters. Balaiah's last rites will be held today Kamareddy. Meanwhile, the chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao expressed grief over his death and offered condolences to his family.
