Carrying ‘Bonam’ on their heads in one procession, playing the ‘Kolatam’ in another procession, women were seen coming to the ‘Asheervada Sabha’ organised by the Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) here on Friday. The TRS party kick-started its poll campaign with this meeting, which is considered as ‘good omen’ for the TRS chief and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. People from each village and thanda in every mandal of Husnabad constituency, which was represented by Vodithela Satish Kumar of the TRS in the recently dissolved Assembly, attended the meeting in large numbers. Some women even carried KCR kits with them and put them on display at the meeting. It may be mentioned here that KCR kit is one of the successful schemes being implemented in the State. “KCR has introduced several schemes for the welfare of the people. KCR kit is very much helpful for the poor and below middle class pregnant women,” said the woman, who was carrying the KCR kit box.

Meanwhile, several people have observed that the developmental works, especially construction of the Gouravelli reservoir with 8.26 TMC capacity, would fetch victory for the TRS candidate V Satish Kumar in the ensuing election. A total of Rs 3195 crore development works were sanctioned to the Husnabad Assembly constituency alone.

I Gali Reddy, a farmer of Kuchanapally village of Husnabad mandal said that nearly 2,000 acres of the land at their village would assure irrigation facility once the Gouravelli reservoir is completed.

While the Congress had designed the project for only 1.4 TMC, the capacity was increased to 8.26 tmcft by the TRS government to benefit more farmers. It would irrigate 80,000 acres of the land. With the completion of the other reservoirs and tanks, the TRS government had planned to irrigate 1.65 lakh acres in Husnabad constituency. Anreddy Kondal Reddy, another farmer, of Gudatipalle village said that the TRS would regain the power in the State as it had implemented scores of welfare schemes. “As per my knowledge, the TRS would win the election and form the next government. TRS can only usher in the development in the State as the Congress and other parties had done nothing for the development,” he added.

Expressing the similar opinion , R Komuraiah, a resident of Pariveda village, said that the TRS government had done much for the betterment of the farmers by providing 24/7 free power supply and also by offering the financial assistance under the recently introduced ‘Rythu Bandhu’ scheme and land records updation programme.
