TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday described the next elections as “Dharma Yuddham” (holy war) in which Congress, along with other parties, NGOs and people’s organisations, will fight the “autocratic, arrogant and dictatorial rule of K Chandrashekar Rao and his family members.”

Addressing a press conference after the TPCC Executive Committee meeting, Uttam reiterated that the next elections would not be “Congress Vs TRS” but it would be “KCR Family Vs People of Telangana”. He appealed to all political parties including TDP besides civil society groups, employees’ unions, women organisations, students’ groups, NGOs and voluntary organisations to unite and fight the corrupt regime of TRS in next elections. Stating that a committee has been constituted to explore the possibilities of having political alliances, the TPCC chief said the committee would conduct preliminary discussions with different political parties and proposals would be discussed further in the party forum.

Making it clear that Congress party would not encourage any kind of lobbying for party tickets, Uttam said party ticket (B-Form) would be delivered at the door step of eligible candidates and there was no need for anyone to visit party headquarters in Delhi or Hyderabad. He said candidates would be selected on the basis of their winnability on merit and social justice, and added that Congress candidates’ list being circulated on social media was completely a bogus one.

The TPCC chief said several issues were discussed during the TPCC Executive meeting on Friday. He said the Telangana Congress would actively participate in the Bharat Bandh call given by the AICC on September 10, against the rising prices of diesel and petrol. He appealed to all political parties, Congress workers and common people to make Bharat Bandh against the inhuman approach of BJP and TRS governments a grand success.

Uttam has strongly condemned caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for his remarks against former Prime Ministers Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and AICC president Rahul Gandhi.

By calling Rahul Gandhi the biggest buffoon in the country, the Chief Minister has raised doubts on his mental fitness, he said. There was no Chief Minister in India who has proposed for demolition of Secretariat buildings and for entrusting the land to shopping mall.
