My phone is tapped: Mohammed Ali Shabbir

Hyderabad: Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Council, Mr Md. Shabbir Ali, has alleged that the caretaker government of Telangana was tapping the phone calls of Congress leaders. Mr Shabbir has said that he has written to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, about the issue.


Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad, Mr Shabbir Ali said, “I was shocked and surprised to see that the intelligence wing of the state police are tapping my cell phone No 9948711111 for past two to three days and illegally monitoring and recording the conversations. Similar illegal and felonious acts are under way on the telephones and mobile phones of other Congress leaders as well. As per Article 21 of the Indian Constitution, no person shall be deprived of his privacy except according to procedure established by law and if done in an unauthorised manner, it would attract prosecution.”
