Harish Rao asked Jaipal Reddy to do some fact checking in his own constituency of Kalwakurthy

Hyderabad: TRS ministers slammed Congress leader and former Union minister S Jaipal Reddy for his remarks on corruption in irrigation projects. Speaking to the media, irrigation minister T. Harish Rao challenged Jaipal Reddy to an open debate on irrigation projects. He said that the previous Congress government had introduced the engineering procurement construction (EPC) system to give public money to contractors. He said that after the TRS came to power, it ended this system.


Mr. Harish Rao said that in the last four and half years, the TRS government had saved Rs 650 crore in tenders while the previous Congress government had burdened the state exchequer by Rs 2,600 crore by adopting the EPC system. He asked Jaipal Reddy to do some fact checking in his own constituency of Kalwakurthy.


He said that 15,000 villages have been provided with drinking water from the Godavari, Krishna and Manjeera rivers during the four and half years of the TRS rule.  He said that government has also provided 12 lakh acres with water for irrigation and added that in all, 25 lakh acres were newly irrigated under the TRS rule.


He said that the efficiency of the KCR government in the field of irrigation was proof of TRS integrity. He said that the people will teach a lesson to the Congress in the upcoming assembly elections.


Meanwhile, home minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy, in a separate media interaction, challenged Jaipal Reddy to come for an open debate on irrigation projects with Irrigation Minister Harish Rao.
