HC directed OGH to carry out medical tests on child sex victims

Expressing serious concern at the child sexual exploitation at pilgrimage centre of Yadadri, the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed Osmania General Hospital (OGH) endocrinology department head Dr Rakesh Kumar Sahay to carry out medical examination of the victims of child sex racket to find out whether hormones  were administered to minor girls.While dealing with a PIL taken up suo motu on the incidents of child abuse, trafficking and sexual exploitation in Yadadri and other parts of the state, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice S.V. Bhatt said that the High Court will monitor the investigation of these cases and it will hear the case every Tuesday.


The bench directed the OGH superintendent to coordinate the medical examination of the victims and also provide necessary medical care for them.The bench directed the authorities to take care of the victims who were in the shelter homes and added that the police will provide necessary protection to the victims and ensure their privacy.


While considering the proposal of the DGP that a SIT would be constituted headed by a responsible senior officer from the SHE teams, the bench directed the DGP to submit the status of the investigation for time to time.


While asking the state government to give top priority to these cases, the bench directed it to file an affidavit within 24 hours explaining the number of similar cases pending and how many of accused got bail in the cases.


When counsel told that the OGH had the endocrinology wing, the bench said that it would find out the truth through the scientific test and asked counsel to ensure that the head of the OGH endocrinology department is present before it by 2.30 pm. The bench adjourned the case to the next Tuesday.
