Hyderabad: After the traffic restrictions to facilitate Metro Rail work at Hitec City were revoked in the face of much opposition, HMRL has taken up the works during night and non-peak hours.A train reversal facility is being built for the Hitec City station, and the work is going on without closing the road. Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director N.V.S. Reddy said, “Work is being done at night and we are not stopping traffic. Parts of road are being closed beyond 10.30 pm when traffic is low.”

Roads will be barricaded based on works.

HMRL came up with the solution and has undertaken road widening at junctions at some places on alternative roads. Cementing has been done and utility poles shifted. Cyberabad traffic police has conducted trial runs to test the closure of roads during non-peak hours but it did not yield satisfactory results.

Consequently, the roads will be narrowed down to facilitate traffic. Cyberabad DCP, Traffic, Vijay Kumar said, “Even during non-peak hours, the alternative routes couldn’t take the load. Since L&THMRL is taking up work in phases, closure will not be needed.”
