TS Polls: EC to add 250 more polling stations

The Election Commission intends to set up 250 to 300 polling stations additionally in view of the rise in the number of electors in some Assembly constituencies, according to the officials. Efforts are on to decide on the location of new booths. The Election Commission had decided to set up 32,574 polling stations in the State initially. It had already asked for 25 platoons of Central forces in advance as part of the preparatory exercise for the polls.

As part of the security deployment plans for the polls, 217 companies of armed forces including 158 companies of the CRPF and 58 companies of the APSP would be allotted to the State. As part of measures initiated to check the influence of money in the election, over Rs 25 crore was seized in cash at different places so far by the police.
