Girl dies after mother scolded for not taking a bath

A 15-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging allegedly after her mother scolded her for not taking a bath and getting late for school, police said on Friday. The victim has been identified as D. Kasheshwari, 15, a Class 8 student from Miyapur.After preliminary investigations, the Miyapur police surmised that she must have felt hurt at being scolded by her mother. Miyapur sub-inspector V. Viswanath said, “She went into the common bathroom which is shared by four families in the neighbourhood and latched it from inside at around 7.30 am.”

When a neighbour who want to use the bathroom knocked on the door there was no reply and they waited for some more time. When Kasheshwari did not open the door, the neighbours broke open the door at around 8 am, and found the girl’s body hanging from an iron rod which was fixed to hang clothes.The neighbours immediately alerted the family and police. Police registered a case under CrPC Section 174 (suspicious death).
