Congress and Telugu Desam Party are setting new benchmarks for opportunistic politics in the country in their greed for power, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao said on Friday. He accused TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of surrendering Telugu pride at the feet of Congress president Rahul Gandhi, and slammed the Congress for betraying martyrs and their aspirations by allying with the TDP.He was speaking after formally welcoming BJP leaders and activists led by BJP Sangareddy district president Buchireddy as well as Congress leaders from the district into the TRS fold at Telangana Bhavan here. “Buchireddy is the second BJP district president in the State to quit the party and join TRS,” he said, adding that at this rate, the BJP would soon vanish from Telangana.

Stating that both the parties had buried their respective ideologies, he pointed out that if the Prajakutami was formed on ideological basis, there would have been consensus on seat-sharing long ago. “But there is infighting even within these parties before coming to an understanding on seat-sharing and candidates. Considering the infighting, people have realised what their fate will be in the unfortunate event of Prajakutami coming to power.” He felt that voting for such political parties would spell doom for the State.
