HMR introduced a WhatAapp helpline number for protection of woman

L&T,HMRL has introduced a WhatAapp number to allow passengers to complain when men enter the ladies coach. A poster which reads, "Men in the ladies section! Please WhatsApp train to +91 7032224242" has been placed in the ladies coach of every train.Once a commuter sends a message to the number, the Customer Relations Management (CRM) team will verify the CCTV footage and take action accordingly.

The CRM team has provided the WhatsApp facility for convenience of users. In August 2018, after IRCTC introduced helpline numbers on WhatsApp to lodge complaints regarding lack of cleanliness at stations, but very few messages were actually related to unclean premises.

Officials said that the helpline facilitates quick action to be taken on the complaints. L&T has urged people not to misuse the helpline number and keep it for a dedicated purpose.
