Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao said that TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had no moral right to seek votes in Telangana State. He pointed out that while Naidu wrote 30 letters to obstruct various irrigation projects under construction in the State, his Cabinet Ministers from AP on Friday declared again that they would obstruct Palamuru-Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme.

Addressing Rythu Sammelanam (farmers’ meeting) at Ibrahimpatnam in Rangareddy district on Saturday, Harish Rao said Chandrababu Naidu was double-tongued while taking up issues involving people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He pointed out that Naidu who claimed to be not against the irrigation projects in the State was creating obstacles for the same irrigation projects in the capacity of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister. He said Naidu was cheating people of both Telugu States.

“Chandrababu Naidu wrote letters to the Central government against the Palamuru-Dindi project seeking to stall its construction. His stand has been confirmed by the AP government on Friday. How dare he obstruct our projects and also seek votes in the State?” he questioned. He asked whether the Telangana Congress leaders got any assurance from Chandrababu Naidu that he would not interfere in completion of the ongoing irrigation projects in the State.

He reiterated that a vote to the Prajakutami would be nothing short of pledging our self-respect to the Andhra leaders, while vote for TRS would ensure welfare and development for next five years. He predicted that TDP will be wiped out from Telangana after the elections on December 7 this year. “While TRS triggered reverse migration of farmers and farm labourers into the State, the Congress leaders are bringing back TDP leaders who were driven away to the State borders,” he added.

Bhongir MP Boora Narsaiah Goud expressed apprehensions that if the Prajakutami is voted to power, it would result in the Andhra rulers taking control over the State once again and stopping all the ongoing welfare programmes. He said that vote for TRS would get water to the agricultural fields of Rangareddy district within next a few months. He emphasised the need for TRS to remain in power which would result in timely supply of water, power, farm capital, fertilizers and other resources for farmers.

Ibrahimpatnam MLA nominee Manchireddy Kishan Reddy promised that the constituency would get 15 tmc ft water from Rachakonda Lift Irrigation Scheme via Shivannaguda tank.
