Tension prevailed at Gandhi Bhavan, the headquarters of the Telangana state Congress, as leaders and workers continued protests for the second day on Saturday in their pursuit for tickets.

Two Congress workers tried to attempt suicide by pouring petrol on themselves and setting themselves on fire, demanding the Uppal Assembly constituency ticket to Mr Laxma Reddy. Bystanders quickly stopped them.

Some Congress leaders also staged protest demanding tickets, according to reports. Besides, BC leaders of the party have been protesting for seats proportionate to their population.

The Telangana Telugu Desam headquarters, NTR Bhavan, at Banjara Hills also witnessed protests by irate party leaders and workers. The followers of TD leader Sama Ranga Reddy demanded that the LB Nagar Assembly seat be given to their leader.

Back at Gandhi Bhavan, the followers of Mr Nandikanti Sreedhar staged a dharna demanding the Malkajgiri ticket to their leader. The seat could be handed over to the Mahakutami.

Workers from Khanapur Assembly constituency in Adilabad district demonstrated against nominating new entrant Ramesh Rathod and wanted the ticket for Mr Hari Naik. Mr Prasanna Raju brought his followes from Nakrekal to stake claim to the ticket.

With the protests, the atmosphere at Gandhi Bhavan heated up considerably. Senior leaders were unable to control and convince the agitating leaders and workers. TPCC leaders Mallu Ravi and Guduru Narayana Reddy tried to convince the agitated leaders.

Some leaders demanded that their Assembly seats should not be allotted to any other party in the seats sharing with the Mahakutami. While Malkajgiri Congress leaders objected to allotting the Malkajgiri seat to the Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS), the leaders from Nakrekal objected to allotting their seat to the Telangana Inti Party. While the police was present, it seemed a good idea that the party had hired private security personnel.
