Addressing at Praja Ashirwada Sabaha in Jukkal Caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said  his efforts in this direction would shortly yield results as many unique programmes were initiated in Telangana for the benefit of all sections of people.

“The dream of Golden Telangana will be realised when every farmer is freed from clutches of debts and every farmer has at least five to ten lakh rupees in their bank accounts”, Chandrashekhar Rao said at a well-attended election meeting here on Wednesday.

Thousands of people, most of them wearing pink caps and stoles, waited patiently for the Chief Minister who arrived an hour late at the meeting site. The enthusiastic crowd broke into loud cheers prompting Chandrashekhar Rao to stop his speech twice and advise them to maintain silence so that others could hear his message. A smiling Chief Minister told the cheerful crowd that the TRS nominee Hanumanthu Shinde was bound to win the polls as his survey found that more than 68 per cent of people would vote for him. So was the situation in other constituencies also. “We will win at least 100 seats”, he asserted as crowds listened to him in rapt attention.

Rao explained that he had opted for early polls as the Opposition parties continued with their ‘baseless and meaningless allegations’ on government programmes with a belief that a lie uttered hundred times could be construed as truth. Hence the state was facing an election now. He reminded the people that their vote is very important in this background and urged them to think carefully before casting their votes. “The choice is very simple. On one side you have the Kutami with 58 years of misrule and on the other you have a party (TRS) which fought for the separate Telangana State and initiated many unique programmes for all sections of people”.

Rao, who was in an expansive mood, explained that his government achievements were considered as impossible earlier. No one thought we could supply 24X7 power free of cost. The major projects like Kaleshwaram will be completed shortly. One crore acres will be irrigated and projects like Nizamsagar would be full of water through out the year. This would lead to bumber crops and planning should be done for ensuring remunerative prices. Simultaneously, mahila sanghams and IKPs should be trained in food processing. “We will divide the State into different zones based on crops and start food processing units”, he said.

The Chief Minister listed out the welfare schemes like Rythu Bheema, Rythu Bandhu, Aasara pensions, sheep distribution and programmes that helped check suicides among weavers and said his government would double the financial assistance to Aasara beneficiaries and would pay unemployment allowance of Rs 3,016 per head. He pointed out that the TRS government started residential schools for children of BCs, SCs, STs and minorities by spending more than a lakh of rupees on each child. “These children would be better citizens and would be competent to compete with those in US and Japan” he felt.

Urging people to vote for Telangana Rashtra Samithi, he assured them that he would never go back on the interests of Telangana especially on the water front where the state had legitimate right.

He told the gathering that he had earlier sanctioned the Nagamadugu lift irrigation project and once TRS government was formed again he would allocate funds and ensure its completion within a year so as to irrigate 40,000 acres. If an anicut was built at Bijjanwada another 2000 acres could be irrigated.
