Hyderabad: Telangana Network Hospitals stopped Aarogyasri services in the hospitals for bill payments due. The Telangana health authorities released Rs 150 crore towards pending Arogyasri medical bills to members of the Telangana Network Hospitals Association (TANHA). In the last two days, the authorities released Rs 100 crore and on Saturday another Rs 50 crore was released to the Aarogyasri network hospitals.

The health authorities also assured TANHA members of releasing the remaining outstanding pending medical bills, which are the tune of Rs 1,200 crore, by December-end. To drive home this point, senior health authorities, including Principal Secretary of Health, Medical and Family Welfare Santi Kumari, are holding a series of meeting with the office bearers of TANHA to convince them to restore all medical services.

According to TANHA, the delayed release of Aarogyasri medical bills was impacting them financially. Senior doctors said a majority of TANHA members were small and medium sized healthcare institutions and pending bills was having a cascading impact on the day-to-day operations of these institutions.“Our decision to roll back medical services was not taken abruptly. In fact, early this year, we informed health authorities that by December, all healthcare services for Aarogyasri beneficiaries will be stopped if medical bills are not cleared,” senior office bearers of TANHA said.

The State health officials, who are expected to engage the managements of private hospitals in talks, were hopeful of a solution to the impasse.
