The Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) 2019 is likely to be conducted from May 2. The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE), which conducts all common entrance tests for admissions into various professional courses, is expected to announce the dates this week. “A meeting will be conducted and dates will be finalised for the conduct of the EAMCET and other common entrance tests this week,” a senior official said.

With the success of the computer-based test in 2018, the common entrance tests including the EAMCET will be held in the same pattern this year too. Like last year, the EAMCET will be conducted in a phased manner. As less number of students appear for the AM stream, it is likely to be conducted first followed by the entrance test for engineering courses.

In EAMCET 2018, a total of 1,36,305 candidates had appeared for the engineering stream, out of which 1,06,646 qualified. In the AM steam, 66,858 candidates took the entrance test and 60,651 cleared it. The AM stream of the EAMCET was held on May 2 and 3 whereas the engineering stream was held on May 4, 5 and 7. Both the tests were held in two sessions i.e., 10 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm.

For the conduct of the CETs, the TSCHE will rope in universities besides appoint conveners soon. Like last year, the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad will be entrusted the job of holding the EAMCET and the Engineering Common Entrance Test (lateral entry for polytechnic students). Similarly, Osmania University is likely to conduct the Education Common Entrance Test, Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test and Law Common Entrance Test for LLB and LLM courses. Likewise, the Integrated Common Entrance Test is expected to be conducted by Kakatiya University.
