The State Election Commission (SEC) on Thursday notified the free symbols to be allotted to candidates contesting for the offices of sarpanchs and ward members in the ensuing elections to the Gram Panchayats. In a press release, the commission said that ‘None Of The Above’ (NOTA) symbol will also be provided for the benefit of those electors who may wish to exercise the option of not voting for any of the candidates in fray. “The NOTA symbol shall be printed below the last symbol in the ballot paper of sarpanch and ward members election,” the Commission said.
The SEC has allocated 30 symbols for sarpanch elections and 20 for ward members.
Symbols for post of sarpanch election are – Ring, Scissors, Bat, Cup and Saucer, Aeroplane, Ball, Shuttle, Chair, Brinjal, Black Board, Coconut, Lady Purse, Mango, Bottle, Bucket, Basket, Comb, Banana, Cot, Slate, Table, Battery Torch, Brush, Carrot, Axe, Balloon, Biscuit, Flute, Fork and Spoon.
Symbols for ward members election are – Jug, Frock, Gas Stove, Stool, Gas Cylinder, Glass Tumbler, Almirah, Whistle, Pot, Dish Antenna, Funnel, Frying Pan, Kettle, Bow and Arrow, Envelope, Hockey and Ball, Neck Tie, Cutting Pliers, Letter Box, Electric pole.
