The Telangana High Court on Friday directed the state police to continue the security cover to the Congress party leaders Konda Muralidhar and his wife Konda Sureka until it further decided on the petitions filed by them.
Justice M.S. Rama Chandra Rao was dealing with two individual petitions filed by both Murali and Sureka, urging the court not to withdraw the security personnel in view of the threat to their lives. The court directed the commissioner of police, Warangal, to continue with the security cover for four weeks and it posted the cases to January 25 to decide further on continuation. Ms Konda Sureka alleged that the 2+2-gunmen security cover provided to her was withdrawn without notice and that her life is under threat from political rivals.
On the same lines, her husband Mr Konda Muralidhar Rao also filed a separate writ petition seeking a direction to the commissioner of police, Warangal, to continue with the 3+3-gunmen security cover which was recently withdrawn. The petitioner submitted that he is has threat perception from his political rivals as well as the Maoists.
