Famous Bawarchi hotel at RTC X roads seized

The GHMC on Monday sealed the Bawarchi Hotel at Musheerabad for not installing a compost unit despite several warnings. Hours later, the management said it had installed the machine and sought permission to open the hotel. The GHMC commissioner directed officials to keep the hotel closed for the day as punishment.

The corporation had ordered hotels which generate more than  50 kg of garbage should have compost units, according to the Waste Management Act.

The GHMC also sealed Sahara Cafe in Kukatpally Circle for unhygienic conditions in their kitchen and levied a fine of Rs 20,000. Hotel Devi Grand at Moosapet was fined Rs 30,100 for the same reason. Officials said the Bawarchi management had given undertaking that the composting machine would be installed by December 25. This was not done.
