After the introduction of the e-challan system two weeks ago, the Karimnagar police imposed stringent rules on two-wheeler riders making helmet mandatory from February 1, 2019. Commissioner of Police, Karimnagar VB Kamalasan Reddy on Tuesday released a poster with respect to the initiative and said that as the riders not following the rules properly, the new rule will come into effect on February 1 and riders not wearing a helmet will be penalised.

The posters were released in a bid to educate the commuters of the traffic rules and importance of wearing a helmet, which prevent 99% per cent of deaths caused due to head injuries during road accidents.

Meanwhile, the CP also appealed to car drivers to wear the seat belt. He further asserted that around 4.326 e-challans have been issued since the launch from the programme and Rs 20 lakh fine was collected from Karimnagar alone, said Reddy.
