Police constable dies in road accident

An AR (Armed reserve) constable died and five others injured in a road accident in Karepalli mandal of Khammam district on Tuesday. According to the police, a car going to Bhadrachalam from Khammam was hit by a coal tipper at JK5 open cast (OC) mine area near Yellandu in Bhadradri Kothagudem district during evening hours.


It was said that five AR constables were escorting a vehicle transporting cash to a public sector bank at Bhadrachalam from Hyderabad. They first visited Khammam and proceeded towards Bhadrachalam via Yellandu.


The impact of the accident instantly killed the constable Dastagiri, who was driving the escort car. Another man called Feroze Khan, who was in the car suffered serious injuries and his condition was said to serious.


The condition of four others was out of danger. They were all shifted to Khammam government hospital for treatment. Karepalli CI Sambaraju and SI Venkanna visited the spot and booked a case in connection with the incident.
