Feb 2 is the appointed day for newly elected Sarpanches

Hyderabad: With the end of gram panchayat elections in Telangana, the Panchayat Raj department on Wednesday issued a gazette notification fixing appointed day as February 2, 2019 for all the newly elected sarpanches in the state. Nitu Prasad, commissioner of Panchayat Raj has directed the authorities with respect to the move.
The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected sarpanches will take place on the same day, the notification said. Gram Panchayat elections in the state began on January 21 in three phases for 12,700 panchayats and final phase of the election concluded today. Of the total, around 2000 gram panchayats elected unanimously.
