The affordability of the MMTS service makes it very popular and on par with the bus service of the Road Transport Corporation. Also, it connects to the peripheral areas of the city, which the Metro Rail does not. Hence, the clamour to get the second phase operational. Currently, MMTS Phase I carries around 1.6 lakh passengers daily. During festive seasons, the count can go up to two lakh passengers. Phase I had 34 services when it started. Due to increased demand, it now has 121 services. The maximum ticket price for general passengers is Rs 10, which is much cheaper than the Metro. Mr A. Kishan, a resident of Bolarum, said, “It burns our pockets to go to Shamshabad Airport by cab, and other services are rare.”
