NIMS doctors' negligence: Scissor inside woman's abdomen

Hyderabad: Three months after surgery at NIMS, a woman readmitted into another hospital on Friday due to severe stomach ache where the hospital doctors found a pair of surgical scissors inside her abdomen. The woman, Maheshwari Chowdary (33), a resident of Mangalhat in Old City has undergone Hernia repair three months ago at NIMS and was discharged 15 days after the surgery. However, the woman who experienced severe stomach ache for the last 15 days got admitted into another hospital where they found the scissors inside her abdomen after several tests.


On learning it, the kin of the woman staged a protest in front of NIMS and later lodged a complaint with Punjagutta police. Meanwhile, the doctors of another hospital immediately operated the woman and removed the scissors. Reacting to the issue, NIMS director Manohar termed it an unfortunate incident and said that Maheshwari who suffered from diaphragmatic hernia admitted into NIMS on October 28, 2018. She was operated by the doctors professor Veerappa, Venu and Varma, said the director adding that an action will be taken against the doctors after getting a report from the internal committee.
