Governor and his wife visited the Yadadri

On the occasion of Vasantha Panchami, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and his wife, Vimala Narasimhan, visited the Yadadri Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Balalyam here on Sunday.

Temple priests welcomed the couple with a purnakumbh as they offered special prayers and spent time on the premises. “All temple renovation works are satisfactory; the Chief Minister had also inspected them recently. Soon devotees can seek blessings from the moola viraat (the main deity),” he said briefly, while exiting the temple.Mr. Narasimhan said the special prayers were for the well-being of the State. District Collector Anita Ramachandran, temple executive officer N. Geeta and local legislator G. Suneetha accompanied Mr and Mrs. Narasimhan.

The temple town of Basar in Nirmal district was caught in a whir of activity on Sunday as thousands of devotees visited the famous Gnana Saraswati temple to offer prayers on Vasantha Panchami.Thousands of children took part in ‘Aksharabhyasam’ or initiation into the world of letters.Devotees started queuing up for darsan of goddess Saraswathi since Saturday midnight. The facilities of the temple were stretched to the limit and devotees faced problems, said sources.The day started with abhishekam of the goddess while Aksharabhyasam was performed at the mandapam. Priests also performed shatha chandi yagam.

Vasantha Panchami was celebrated with religious fervour across the erstwhile undivided district on Sunday with devotees making a beeline to temples to offer special pujas.Aksharabhyasam was organised in the presence of MLA A. Jeevan Reddy in Armoor while Collector N. Satyanarayana unveiled the statue of Saraswathi, the goddess of wisdom, at a government school in Boorgul village of Kamareddy district.
