For the first time, the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB) is using radio frequency identification (RFID) tags for physical fitness tests as part of the recruitment for stipendary police constable and sub-inspector posts. The recruitment process got under way in various parts of the State on Monday.

In Karimnagar, a total of 25,182 candidates, who qualified the written exam, are taking the physical measurement test (PMT) and physical efficiency test (PET). On Monday, 600 candidates were called for the tests at 5 a.m. for biometric attendance and document verification.

The RFID tags, which are attached to jackets provided to each candidate, are being used to electronically record the time taken to complete the mandatory 100-metre and 800-metre runs. Even the long jump and shot-put distance would be measured through RFID devices, and do away with manual measurement.

Commissioner of Police V.B. Kamalasan Reddy said the recruitment process is being conducted in a transparent manner through the use of electronic devices to minimise scope for irregularities.

In Warangal, the recruitment process began at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Monday. Inaugurating the camp, Commissioner of Police V. Ravinder said 31,178 candidates, who passed the preliminary examination conducted by TSLPRB, are taking part in PMT and PET.

“To make the tests more transparent, TSLPRB has taken up digital scrutiny besides deputing senior police officials to oversee the entire process,” he said.

The Commissioner has also warned candidates against falling prey to middlemen promising them the job, and instead, report them by dialling 100 or sending a WhatsApp message to 94910-89257.
