One-week training programme for Vishkapatnam steel plant executives on ‘New frontiers of mechanical engineering applications in Steel making’ commenced at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, on Monday.

While NK Nayak, executive director, services and maintenance, Vizag steel plant inaugurated the programme, Directors of NIT Warangal and NIT Andhra Pradesh, NV Ramana Rao and CSP Rao were the chief guests at the inagural function. Around 50 steel plate executives are taking part in this week long programme. Professor NV Ramana Rao agreed to sign MoU with Vizag Steel plant, to take up consultancy projects and to offer part-time PhD for VSP executives.

Professor CSP Rao said, updation of knowledge was mandatory in every field. There was stiff competition in every field and steel making industry was no exception to this. He advised the participants to make use of the workshop to refresh their knowledge and update their skills. Dr Subhash Chandra Bose and Dr. Veeresh Babu are coordinators of this workshop.
