TS Govt giving priority to provide quality education: Jagadish Reddy

Telangana Education Minister Jagadish Reddy on Friday instructed officials to ensure that government schools in the State availed treated and piped drinking water facility through the government’s prestigious scheme Mission Bhagiratha. The Minister on Friday reviewed the functioning of schools and colleges with respect to basic infrastructure – drinking water and lavatories.


“Instructions have already been issued to officials to undertake construction of compound walls in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) and model schools,” he told mediapersons.


On the enrollment of students from private school into government schools, he said measures were being taken to bring awareness among parents about faculty and infrastructure at government schools. “Special attention should be paid to children who have lost their parents and they should be immediately enrolled in local Gurukulams. Officials should ensure no student is dropped out,” he said.


Stating that several reforms were introduced in the examination system, Jagadish Reddy said any discrepancy with regard to examinations would be addressed with immediate effect. “As directed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, providing quality education is the priority of the State government”.


The Minister further stressed the need for introducing new technical courses to match the present standards keeping in view the current job market. TET exam would be conducted soon, he said. The proposal of introducing English language in primary education would be discussed with the Chief Minister and a decision would be taken soon, he added.
