Hyderabad: As the possibility of Election Commission of India releasing the schedule for Parliament elections within a week looms large, the TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has got into top gear and appointed his Cabinet colleagues as parliamentary constituency in-charges. KCR has taken on himself the responsibility for three constituencies -- Khammam, Medak and Zaheerabad, and distributed the remaining thirteen constituencies among the Ministers. The TRS is likely to give a token fight to its friendly party, Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, in the seventeenth constituency -- Hyderabad.

Mr. Rao has retained Medak and Zaheerabad with himself because he is alone representing Medak district in the Cabinet while there is no Minister from Khammam. Zaheerabad constituency overlaps Medak and Nizamabad but the Minister from the latter district, V. Prashant Reddy, has been assigned to Nizamabad constituency where Mr. Rao’s daughter and present MP K. Kavitha is likely to be the TRS candidate again.

The other Ministers and their constituencies are: E. Dayakar Rao (Warangal and Mahbubabad), G. Jagdish Reddy (Nalgonda and Bhongir), S. Niranjan Reddy (Nagarkurnool), V. Srinivas Goud (Mahbubnagar), C. Malla Reddy (Chevella and Malkajgiri), Eatala Rajender (Karimnagar), Koppula Easwar (Peddapalli) and T. Srinivas Yadav (Secunderabad).

Sources said the TRS has taken the contest at Chevella as a matter of prestige because the sitting MP K. Visweswara Reddy had deserted the party and joined the Congress. The TRS is likely to use its might to wrest Chevella and Khammam seats, the latter because it won only one constituency in the Assembly elections. The Ministers will camp in the constituencies and coordinate campaign with working president K.T. Rama Rao, who will address constituency wise meetings from March 6. It is said that Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao had invited Medak MP K. Prabhakar Reddy and Zaheerabad MP B.B. Patil for a luncheon meeting two days ago, giving rise to speculation that they might be retained as party candidates.

Another surety for candidature is Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar. Education Minister G. Jagdish Reddy was said to have vowed to win Nalgonda and Bhongir for the party as his `gift’ for the party president.
