Home minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali said that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is a real secular leader and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government is a secular government.

The Chief Minister is taking measures to improve the living standards of Muslims, by providing educational facilities, he said. Muslims in the country are curiously watching the minority welfare programmes being implemented in Telangana state, he added.

Mr Mahmood Ali conducted an election campaign in Zaheerabad Parliamentary constituency in support of TRS candidate B.B. Patil in Kamareddy, Banswada and Yellareddy towns on Thursday.

Muslims in large numbers took part in the meeting. The Chief Minister’s political secretary Sheri Subhash Reddy, MLC D. Rajeshwar, DCMS chairman Mujeebuddin, municipal chairperson P. Sushma and others were present.

Speaking at the meeting, the home minster said that after the Nizam, Mr Rao is only leader to treat both Hindus and Muslims equally.  There is chance of victory of 125 MPs for BJP and 100 MPs for Congress and the Federal Front will play a key role, he predicted. KCR achieved Telangana state with two MPs and he can play key role in the centre with 16 MPs, he said.
