Opposition leader in Rajya Sabha, Gulam Nabi Azad, here on Sunday, said the Congress gave Telangana against all odds. The TRS and the BJP are friendly parties and have common agenda, he added.

Addressing the Congress road show in the old city, he said that in respect of note ban, GST and presidential elections, the TRS supported BJP, and now both are indulging in political games for votes. He said the TRS regime miserably failed in solving the demands of farmers. Hence, in the last five years scores of farmers committed suicide, he added.

Mr. Azad said farmers are suffering following the absence of minimum support price for turmeric, red jowar, maize and other crops in the market. Nominations of farmers in large numbers in the Lok Sabha constituency are indicative of their agony and woes, he said, and promised to extend full assistance to farmers if the Congress is voted to power.

Appealing voters to vote for Congress nominee Madhu Yaskhi Goud, he said Mr. Goud fought for Telangana in Parliament and outside. The road show lasted a couple of hours covering old city, predominantly inhabited by Muslim minorities.

Balladeer Gaddar, BC Empowerment Committee chairman P. Vinaykumar, Congress leaders Gadugu Gangadhar, Taher Bin Hamdan, Javed Akram and Kesa Venu participated.
