Five girls drown in a pond, after went to swimming

Gadwal: Five children, four from the same family were drowned in a lake here at Nagardoddi village of Maldakal mandal in Jogulamba-Gadwal district on Monday. Getting into details, one of the victims Yamuna (12) was asked to bring the cattle home from the farm while returning from school. However, Yamuna along with four others identified as Chinnari (9), Venkateshwari (7), Chinnari (7) and Kavitha (10) went to near to a village pond and ventured into it. All the children were drowned. Meanwhile, Yamuna's father Yellappa launched a search for the children who did not return home from school.
He noticed Yamuna's slippers near the pond and called to her mobile phone which began ringing in the pond. He then went inside the pond where he noticed the bodies of the five children. Yellappa with the help of the villagers removed the bodies out. A pall of gloom has descended the village with the death of five children.
