Hyderabad: A Oman girl kidnapped in Falaknuma

A 17 year-old girl who is Oman national was kidnapped from Jahanuma area of Falaknuma on Friday. The incident came to light when the girl’s mother approached the police and informed about the incident. Rabia Begum in her complaint to the police said that one Ateeq who is a resident of Hafeezbabanagar under Chandrayangutta police station had kidnapped her daughter on Friday. She approached the police the same day and made a complaint. The next day she presented proof of her age following which a case was registered.


The incident came to light only late on Sunday when the parents approached the media seeking help in tracing the girl. “Ateeq had kidnapped our daughter. After we lodged a complaint, the police picked up the family members of Ateeq for questioning but later they were let off after some media persons came to the police station,” Rabia told reporters outside Falaknuma police station. Rabia told that the teenager was born to her through her first husband who was an Oman national. The girl was born in Oman and holds Oman passport.


Station House Officer, Falaknuma Srinivasa Rao said they were making efforts to trace the girl. “A local Youtube channel reporter is in touch with Ateeq and the girl. He is asking them to come and present themselves before the police. It is a case of elopement. We are also tracking the mobile phones and trying to identity their location,” he said.
