Congress leader Vijayashanti questioned Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao's silence on the Federal Front during his meetings with political leaders in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and other states. Ms Vijayashanti said in a post on social media that Mr Rao should campaign in the Lok Sabha elections in other states and explain to them why the Federal Front was needed. She said that had Mr Rao campaigned in West Bengal along with Trinamul chief Mamata Banerjee he would have got a fair amount of clarity on whether or not he would be playing a key role in national politics.

She said that Mr Rao had campaigned in the Karnataka Assembly elections, and had claimed that JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy had imitated his schemes to become Chief Minister. Apropos this, she questioned that if Mr Rao had played a key role in making Mr Kumaraswamy the Chief Minister, then why was he not campaigning in the Karnataka Lok Sabha elections.

Ms Vijayashanti said that prior to the Telangana Assembly elections, Mr Rao had gone to several state capitals in the name of unifying regional parties. Now that the Assembly elections were over, he chooses to remain silent about the Federal Front, Ms Vijayashanti said. She alleged that this attitude of the Chief Minister indicated that although he claims to support the Federal Front, he is acting in the favour of the BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
