TS: 25 Engineering colleges to be shut in the state

Hyderabad: Around 25 engineering colleges will be closed in the state due to the fewer students choosing the technical courses and also lack of funds and faculty in the college. It is learned that there will be a drop of 9,777 seats in the engineering colleges this year which is termed as highest in the country.
These colleges have sought permission to close from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in the academic year 2019-20. After Telangana, Uttar Pradesh will lose 8,722 seats followed by Maharashtra which will see a cut of 8,124 seats in the academic year. The colleges also claimed that it is not possible to run the courses such as electrical, civil, mechanical and electronics engineering as only 40 per cent students choosing them.
