Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court was not inclined to issue any directions to the government regarding making arrangements for distribution of fish prasadam and the Bathini Mrigasira Trust will face no legal hurdle in distributing the prasadam on Saturday, Mrigasira Karthi.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Shameem Akther was dealing with a petition filed by Balala Hakkula Sangam, challenging the support provided by the government towards making arrangements for the fish prasadam distribution. The bench asked the petitioner to establish, in law, that the government cannot sanction funds or direct its official machinery towards making arrangements for a programme organised by a private organisation.

Responding to the query, the petitioner’s counsel, Mr Damodar Reddy, told the court that there was not even a whisper from the government regarding the sanction of funds for the private function.

Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar filed an affidavit pertaining to the police deployment to prevent untoward incidents at the event. He explained how a Hindu saint had suggested the formula of the fish prasadam to the Bathini family.

The court adjourned the case for three weeks.
