Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Friday rejected the plea to direct the city police to give the permission for the Million March and peaceful procession, scheduled on Saturday at Necklace Road against the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Justice T. Vinod Kumar denied the plea of the Khaleelulla Hussaini Memorial Foundation which sought permission to conduct the Million March and challenged the decision of the city police who had rejected the application of the organization’s Telangana and AP states’ joint action committee (JAC) for rallies against the CAA and the NRC. This organisation filed the application before the city police to grant permission to conduct peaceful protests on December 28, at Necklace Road, to show their dissent against the CAA.

The court pointed out that the petitioner foundation was related to the JAC and that it could not entertain this petition, as the petitioner never made an application before to the police to grant permission.
