Tweeple pay tribute to "Nightingale of India" on birth anniv

Sarojini Naidu, the Nightingale of India, is widely remembered for her lyrical poems and contributions to the freedom struggle and championing for women's rights.

On her birthday, Twitterati took to social media to pay her a tribute and wish Sarojini Naidu on her birth anniversary.

Sarojini Naidu born to a Bengali family of scholars and poets in Hyderabad on February 13, 1879 and was a follower of Mahatma Gandhi and his idea of Swaraj or self-governance.

Taking to Twitter, Rajasathan CM Ashok Gehlot wrote, "I pay my homage to the Nightingale of India, #SarojiniNaidu Ji, a poetess and politician on her birth anniversary. She inspired the people, especially women with her vision and work, which was far ahead of her times."

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy wrote, "My tributes to the 'Nightingale of India' Smt #SarojiniNaidu, on her birth anniversary. Her literary works, especially in the area of Indian Nationalism, have inspired scores of motivated individuals in fighting the tyranny of the imperialists."

Ministry of Culture tweeted, "Poet, Educationist, Orator and Freedom Fighter - Sarojini Naidu was among the first who strived tirelessly for women's emancipation, civil rights and India's struggle for independence. Humble tributes to the #nightingleofIndia on her 141st Birth Anniversary. #SarojiniNaidu"
