Warangal Urban: Member of Parliament P Dayakar and MLA E Dayakar Rao have appealed the farming community to disconnect the auto-starters fitted to their pump sets as the discoms has started supplying 24×7 power supply from January 1 onwards.
They said that the auto-starters will affect ground water levels and soil fertility as well. They were speaking during the general body meeting of the Zilla Parishad here on Saturday.
The ZP general body has passed a resolution thanking the State government for supplying 24-hour power to the agriculture sector in the State. The resolution was moved by the ZP chairperson G Padma.
Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari said that the launch of round the clock power supply to meet irrigation needs was a revolutionary decision. “Farmers used to stage dharnas, rasta-rokos demanding regular and uninterrupted power supply, before formation of Telangana State. But now, dharnas and rasta rokos for power are a thing of past,” the Deputy Chief Minister said. He said that the 24 hour power is supplied to nearly 23 lakh irrigation pump sets.
The meeting also discussed subjects like agriculture, subsidised fish and sheep distribution.
The Deputy CM meanwhile asked the officials to take serious action against those resorting to the recycling the cattle. MP A Seetaram Naik, MLC, B Venkateshwarlu, MLAs Ch Dharma Reddy and B Shanker Naik also attended the meeting.
