Hyderabad: Minister for NRI Affairs K T Rama Rao appealed to migrants from Telangana State residing in Kuwait to utilise the amnesty announced by the Kuwaiti government to return home or legalise their status by paying fines or leave the country without paying fines.

Responding to the Kuwaiti government’s decree granting general amnesty to expatriates living in the country without valid visas, Rama Rao requested the Telangana people staying without any valid documentation to utilize the opportunity either by paying fines or leave the country without paying fines except those illegals who have been banned from travelling or due to court cases.

The Minister said the people who want to avail amnesty can directly contact the Embassy of India, Kuwait, or the General Administration (NRI) Department, Telangana State Secretariat, Hyderabad. The amnesty runs between January 29 and February 22, 2018.

Those who leave the country during this amnesty period will be allowed to enter Kuwait again if they meet the regular conditions of entry and if they are not banned for other reasons. The order also states that residency violators who don’t leave the country during the amnesty period will face legal penalties, won’t be given a valid visa, will be deported, and won’t be allowed to enter Kuwait again.
