Hyderabad: A massive contingent of 735 stipendiary cadet trainee women constables completed nine months of training at the Raja Bahadur Venkata Ram Reddy (RBVRR) Telangana State Police Academy here on Wednesday.
The batch, comprising 452 Civil constables and 283 Armed Reserve constables, was the biggest one of women constables to pass out from the academy since the State formation.
Addressing the gathering after reviewing the parade, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy called upon the police to update their skills to tackle criminals who were using the latest technology to commit crimes. Reddy said, “It is the responsibility of the police to update their knowledge in tune with the changing scenario and discharge duties.”
The government was committed towards modernising and strengthening the Police Department and had taken measures to recruit 33 per cent women in the force, he added.
Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy praised the women cadets for choosing a career with the force and advised them to maintain integrity, honesty, impartiality and loyalty in discharging their duties.
Telangana State Police Academy Director Jitender said 769 women were selected for training of which 34 had dropped out due to various reasons.
The women constables were also given away prizes for their performance in various areas of training.
