Hyderabad: Telangana JAC Chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Tuesday demanded that the government create a separate fund in the budget for market intervention to help farmers. The TJAC chairman was speaking at a meeting organised on the problems of farmers organised by Rythu JAC here at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram. Prof Kodandaram pointed out that the government remained a mute spectator when the prices of agriculture produce crashed. The Karnataka government had earmarked Rs 450 core for market intervention, he said. The farmers are in distress in the State, leading to 2,700 of them committing suicide.
