Rubbishing the claims of opposition parties that they would dethrone the Telangana Rashtra Samithi from power in the next elections, IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao said the TRS would retain power in 2019.

None of the developmental works initiated by the TRS government were aimed at the elections. Each and every work was planned and taken up as long term measures for the welfare and benefit of the people, he said after inaugurating houses constructed under the 2BHK Scheme at Singam Cheruvu in Nacharam on Saturday.Tearing into allegations levelled by the Congress, the Minister said the party was trying to trigger apprehensions with ulterior motives among the people and through allegations that the State was debt-ridden.

The government was working on provision of water to every household by taking up Mission Bhagiratha. Similarly, plans were afoot to ensure sufficient water supply to the farming sector through Kaleshwaram, Palamuru and Sitarama projects.

Investments for future

“Are these works investments for future requirements or for burdening the people with debts,” he asked.Branding claims of the opposition parties as illogical and irresponsible, the Minister said cases were being filed to stall development works.“You (the people) should ask these parties why cases were being filed to obstruct development,” he said Previous governments had constructed houses for the poor, but most were available only in records. Citing the example of Varikolu village in Warangal, the Minister said as per government records, 500 houses were constructed for the poor in the village, but there were barely 50 houses that had come up.

“Bills have been produced for construction of 500 houses and the same have been cleared as well. Only God knows where the houses have gone,” he said.

Several new facilities

During his whirlwind tour covering Uppal Assembly constituency, the Minister laid the foundation stones for different developmental works worth Rs.234 crore.Impressed with the quality and pace at which double bedroom houses were constructed at Singam Cheruvu, BJP MLA NVSS Prabhakar showered praises on the Minister.

“KTR is a pro-poor minister. History has been created today and these are the first steps towards Bangaru Telangana. Credit should go to KTR,” Prabhakar said. The Minister later laid the foundation stone for the construction of a Shilparamam arts and craft village at Uppal and said the facility would be ready in six months.
