All Set For TS EAMCET Online

This is year Eamcet is going to conduct through online. Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH), Vice-Chancellor and Chairman Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture Medical Common Entrance Test- 2018 (TS Eamcet-2018), Prof A Venugopal Reddy and Convener Prof N Yadaiah, said that all necessary arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the TS Eamcet- 2018 scheduled to take place for five days from May 2 to 5.

Addressing media here on Saturday, Venugopal Reddy said that the JNTUH has been conducting the Eamcet for two decades. And, for the first time, it is being conducted online as Computer Based Test (CBT). He said so far, a total of 2,71,166 candidates have been registered for the examination. 

Out of this, nearly 1,45,549 candidates registered for engineering and 71,617 candidates for medical and agriculture streams, he added. While there is a slight increase in the number of registrations for engineering there is a slight decrease in the number of applicants registered for agriculture and medical streams when compared to the last year.

Venugopal Reddy said a series of measures have been taken to ensure that students could comfortably write their examination. "After 10+2 pattern, normally students are not experienced with the competitive examinations and writing online examinations. Keeping this in view, steps have been taken to ensure that at every stage the test experience is made convenient to the students."

He asked students not to be tense because of the online test. Earlier in the manual mode of examination, students were asked to answer the questions by bubbling the OMR sheets with pencils. Later, ballpoint pens were made mandatory which left the students with no scope to correct a wrong answer they had marked with the pen. In the CBT mode, students will have the opportunity. The writing of test on computer is also made with user-friendly navigation. Besides, faster evaluation of the answer sheets, he said. 

Prof Yadaiah said that the examination will be held at 14 test zones in Telangana and four in Andhra Pradesh. The examination will be held in 85 centres for engineering and 83 centres for agriculture and medicines across the 18 zones in the two Telugu sates, he said.

Each examination centre will have about 200 to 1,000 computers and examinations will be held in two slots from 10 am to 1 pm and 1 pm to 6 pm, he said. About 10 per cent of the computers are kept as a buffer to meet any replacement needed during the examinations in each of the test centers, he said.
