2 people are died due to viral fever

In a tragic incident, two tribal people died of viral fever at Kannepalli mandal centre on Saturday. As many as 15 others are still suffering from the epidemic that broke a couple of weeks back in the village.

The deceased were identified as Edula Mallesh (40) and Chintapuri Venkakka (60), both natives of Kannepalli mandal centre. Mallesh was a village level coordinator of Sakshara Bharat programme of Union government, while Venkakka was an agriculture labourer, belonging to one of the Scheduled Tribes.The duo was diagnosed with the fever a fortnight ago and breathed their last at their residences respectively. They were undergoing treatment by visiting local rural medical practitioners and hospitals of Bellampalli and Mancherial towns respectively.

It is learnt that officials of Health Department were allegedly showing negligence in taking precautionary measures for preventing seasonal diseases. The nurses and staff of Kannepalli sub-health centre were not discharging their duties. Four persons lost their lives after being diagnosed with the similar fever in the last monsoon, a resident informed.
