Former chief whip and Bhupalpally ex-MLA Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy, started ‘Rythu Bharosa Yatra’,which reached to the 41-day here on Saturday. The yatra was flagged off by former minister D Sridhar Babu on March 19 at Azamnagar village on Chhattisgarh-Telangana borders in the district. Ramana Reddy covered a distance of about 756 kilometres on foot, passing through 160 villages and 121 gram panchayats in six mandals of Bhupalpally Assembly segment.
Marking the conclusion of the yatra, the TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, along with Ramana Reddy and his wife G Jyothi, district Congress president N Rajender Reddy, unveiled a ‘Sthupam’ built at Gatlakaniparti village in Shayampet mandal in the constituency.
A jumbo-sized cake, weighing 41 kilograms, was cut at the village by the leaders. Later, a massive public meeting was organised at Bhupalpally town. TPCC leaders N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Vikramarka, leaders D Sridhar Babu, T Jeevan Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, M Shashidhar Reddy, Seetakka, V Narender Reddy and several others took part in the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, Ramana Reddy said during his yatra he explained the public about failures of the State government. There was a visible anger among public against the ruling TRS government that failed to deliver election promises, mainly to ensure minimum support price to agriculture produce.
The farming community was in dire straits, he said adding that in order to support them Congress had promised to waiving crop loans up to Rs 2 lakhs after coming to power, besides measures towards minimum support price to agriculture produce.
There was a tremendous response to yatra from villagers, he noted. TPCC leaders Uttam Kumar and Vikramarka in their address ridiculed Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s assertion on creating tremors in New Delhi with his Federal Front. Public in Telangana was getting ready to create tsunami to wash TRS away from Telangana and the CM must ready to face it, they said.
They took serious exception to the speech by the CM at TRS plenary saying it was misleading and full of lies. Instead of speaking about what his government has done for public so far, he targeted Opposition parties, they pointed out. The leaders cautioned the CM to hold his tongue and not make caustic remarks against Opposition.
‘The CM failed to address public’s issues in Telangana and what would he do to the county,’ they questioned. Loans taken by the government were being spent on projects that benefit contractors and ruling party leaders while other welfare and development programmes faced funds crunch, Uttam Kumar alleged.
Federal Front was just a disguise to divert public attention from TRS failures, Vikramarka noted. The party leaders appreciated Ramana Reddy for taking up Rythu Bharosa Yatra.
